1/5/10 One of Nichola's pretty handmade dolls
1/6/10 Running to catch a train. A giant cross with apple sauce next to it.

Yesterday I began an internship with my 3D teacher from last semester, Nichola. I am helping her complete a project she started 2 years ago; an embroidery out of her hair from the shower drain that she covered in red ceramic, rabbit-skin gesso, and 24K gold leaf. I am now helping with stitching the pieces together to create a circular embroidery that will be around 6' x 6'.
The actual stitching is tedious, but it was workable with the many cups of jasmine tea, Indian food, and Hope Sandoval and Tom Waits in the background. Nichola's home is real nice too, old a filled with handmade precious items scattered around the place (1/5/10 photo above), just as I like it. I'll be over there again on Friday and might go with her to a Bikram yoga class (yes, the yoga in a 95-100 degree room). Phew, should be intense.

Today Alex and I watched the documentary Anvil, which was heart-warming and awesome, and made peanut butter, Nutella, and banana smoothies.

If you two don't mind my tagging along, I think I shall. I looked up the program; it sounds good. Apparently it's at International House, rather than ICA's main building. I'll see you then.

Hope you enjoy your internship. It sounds (and looks) pretty interesting.
