"Performance for Friday September 7th, 2012
1 p.m. to 4 p.m., In a Stairwell at Tyler School of Art

Purpose:
It’s my birthday on Friday September 7th, 2012. I am turning 22.

I was given the assignment to complete a 3 hour performance somewhere in Tyler School of Art.

I will be telling a digital recorder my “auto-fictional” biography, meaning I will be combining two paradoxically contradictory styles, that of autobiography and fiction, to voice my “life-story”.

The end piece will also act as a sort of memoir, a personal keepsake.

Hypothesis:
The pressure in correlation with giving myself such small periods of time to recollect/invent memories will push me to new thoughts/ideas about my life (fictional or real) and will give me a good base for future fictional story telling.

Procedure:
First a little math:

3 hours (duration of performance) = 180 minutes
180 minutes / 22 (age) = ~ 8.2 minutes

Each 8.2 minute duration is assigned a year out of my 22 year life span, i.e.:

8.2 minutes = 1 year old
16.4 minutes = 2 years old
24.6 minutes = 3 years old
32.8 minutes = 4 years old
41 minutes = 5 years old
49.2 minutes = 6 years old
57.4 minutes = 7 years old
65.6 minutes (1 hr, 5 min., 6 sec.) = 8 years old
73.8 minutes (1 hr, 13 min., 8 sec.) = 9 years old
82 minutes (1 hr, 22 min.) = 10 years old
90.2 minutes (1 hr, 30 min., 2 sec.) = 11 years old
98.4 minutes (1 hr, 38 min., 4 sec.) = 12 years old
106.6 minutes (1 hr, 46 min., 6 sec.) = 13 years old
114.8 minutes (1 hr, 54 min., 8 sec.) = 14 years old

During each 8.2 minute duration I will recollect and/or invent memories to speak out loud into a digital recorder about the correlating age.

At the end of each 8.2 minute duration I will pop a balloon to signify the start of a new 8.2 duration/age.
