“I would like to build a house with my films. Some are the cellars,
others the walls, still others the windows. But I hope in the end it
will be a house.” -R.W. Fassbinder
I am two days late, but Rainer Werner Fassbinder died 30 years ago on June 10th, 1982.
I have just recently begun watching his films, and although I have yet only seen the BRD Trilogy, I can understand why he is such an important representative of New German Cinema.
Here is a nice write-up of the life and career of the great German director, screen-writer, and actor.
Fassbinder's life/work remains compulsive and fascinating.
