May 6th, 2010

-Finals are done now. There is a great relief lifted, but I am still anxious. On Saturday I am moving back in with my aunt and uncle in a new house I haven't seen yet, and I believe my aunt is going to have the twins in 2 weeks or less. I keep flipping back and forth on this anxiety, half the time I am excited and the other half I am nervous and overwhelmed. I just need a break and I don't think I will get one for another month.

-My 3D final was nerve-racking due to how personal it was but it was taken positively and people were coming up to me the day after telling me how they felt about it.
-Got all A's on my 2D projects and an A overall. I don't know what I got in my other classes yet though.
-I was part of a "committee" that set up Tyler's "Salon des Refusés". Foundation work was accepted without question or jury, but the only rule was that it couldn't have been in the previous, more formal foundations show. It was fun, a friend's parents came to play the banjo and fiddle and there were like 15 different types of soda.
-Stop motion for my drawing final
-Watched Night on Earth by Jim Jarmusch today. I really love that guy.
-Beach House tomorrow night :)
-Currently reading Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet. "My habits are of solitude, not of men."

April 26th, 2010

-This is gross, but I got rid of a wart by using apple cider vinegar. It was actually pretty fascinating and only took 3 days. Good way too start off the list-

-I don't remember if I mentioned this before, but I decided to major in sculpture and minor in photo. Jude, the amazing leader of the sculpture department, and I talked and she further reinforced my decision in telling me I can basically take any class I want for a sculpture credit.
-The Marina Abramović and William Kentridge exhibitions at MoMA are amazing. Go. GO.
-The Liars were scary and fun to see.
-John Berger ladies and gentlemen.
-I sewed another patchwork skirt for my 2D class.
-My work with Nichola is back at the beginning. A few weeks ago I sat cutting up all the stitching we had done to the 5-foot in radius, gold-leafed hair piece. Yesterday she had the hair formatted into another shape and we began stitching again. And at the other end of the room we have the beginning of an 8-foot rectangular piece to sew. I am just happy I will continue to work with Nichola during the summer.
-Finals.
-My aunt should be due soon!
-I found Stonewall's Vegan Jerquee and dry-roasted edamame.
-Movies lately include: Hour of the Wolf by Ingmar Bergman, Mystery Train by Jim Jarmusch (I am enamored with him and his slow plot movies), Wendy and Lucy by Kelly Reichardt, and The Wild Child by François Truffaut (I have been researching feral children again).
-Finished Patti Smith's book Just Kids. I recommend it.

-Today the graphic novelist Lynda Barry spoke at lecture and showed us pages from her latest book. She was hilarious and very inspiring. And Charles Burns was in the audience.
-I mentioned in my last post that I watched Ivan's Childhood. I just want to say watch it (along with every other movie I mention here). I rarely go on about things (or do I?) but it is just beautifully shot.
-I've been trying to figure out scheduling for next semester and summer courses.

-Got more bones from my roommate's boyfriend. One seems to be some sort of hip bone and the other a femur.
-Paid the down payment for the house for next semester. Moving in June 1st now.
-Watched Nights of Cabiria, Sawdust and Tinsel, Stranger Than Paradise, and Ivan's Childhood
-Finished building a table and two stools out of two by fours and wooden panels. I installed them in the 7 Eleven on campus with a fancy tablecloth, a doily, and a lit candle. I sat and ate a burrito in front of my class until a police officer came up and said the manager wanted me out.
-Today I walked around for three strait hours asking strangers if they'd read me stanzas or whole nursery rhymes from The Book of Nonsense. I also recorded the majority who said "yes".
-Laid in grass
-Helped a friend dress in drag

Just cleaning bones and stuff. I bought a toy box yesterday at 2nd Avenue and converted it into a bone organizer. Now I can put jaw bones here, and vertebrae there.
Today I felt extremely tired and achy but got a hair cut.

The Past Three Days

Back at my aunt and uncle's for spring break. Not too much of a break though, brought a lot of work home and my aunt and uncle are moving in April for the twins so I'll be trying to get most of my room in boxes. For college housing we are currently drawn between too places, one being cheaper, having more space, but is located 9 blocks away from Tyler, where as the second is literally right next to Tyler, but costs more and has less space. Miranda and I want the first, but others in the group have second thoughts...
I have been dealing with stress with-
1. Over organizing, cleaning, and other obsessive tendencies
2. Renting movies. For break I rented Nights of Cabiria, Repulsion, and Sawdust and Tinsel.
